In a decisive move toward technological advancement, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Saturday the nation’s commitment to becoming a global leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The focus, he emphasized, will be on fostering innovation and generating new opportunities for the youth.

This declaration came on the heels of a high-level discussion with Vishal Sikka, entrepreneur and former CEO of Infosys. The meeting delved into the transformative potential of AI in India and outlined strategic steps for its future growth.
According to Business Today, Sikka later took to social media platform X, where he reflected on the meeting. “It was an insightful interaction indeed. India is committed to taking the lead in AI, focusing on innovation and creating opportunities for the youth. I left the meeting inspired and humbled by Prime Minister Modi’s extraordinary understanding of technology’s impact and its potential to uplift society when aligned with democratic values,” Sikka shared.
Prime Minister Modi echoed these sentiments in a response on X, reiterating India’s pledge to spearhead AI innovation and youth engagement.
In a significant boost to this vision, the Union Cabinet, led by PM Modi, has approved an investment exceeding ₹10,300 crore to bolster the nation’s AI infrastructure, underscoring a robust commitment to building a thriving AI ecosystem.
Currently, Sikka holds positions on Oracle’s board of directors, the supervisory board of BMW Group, and serves as an advisor to the Stanford Institute of Human-Centered AI, further cementing his influence in the global AI landscape.
