Tehran – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has reiterated Iran’s steadfast commitment to supporting resistance forces in their fight against Israeli occupation, calling it a “principled policy” of the Islamic Republic.
During a meeting with Salah Fahs, representative of Lebanon’s Amal Movement, on Monday evening, Araghchi emphasized Iran’s ongoing backing of resistance groups in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories. Fahs conveyed congratulations from Nabih Berri, the speaker of Lebanon’s parliament and head of the Amal Movement, on Araghchi’s recent appointment as foreign minister.
Araghchi praised the contributions of Amal Movement fighters, alongside Hezbollah, in their resistance against Israeli aggression, highlighting the sacrifices made in defending Lebanon and the occupied Palestinian territories. He also reaffirmed Iran’s support for what he described as the “legitimate struggle” of resistance forces against Israeli occupation.
The two leaders discussed regional developments, including the state of the resistance front in Lebanon, the situation in Palestinian territories, and the ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who assumed office in late July, has also pledged full support for the resistance front. In a meeting with Hezbollah’s Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem, Pezeshkian commended the group’s fighters for their resilience against Israeli aggression. He underscored that supporting the Axis of Resistance is not only a policy of the Iranian government but also a religious duty.
Iran’s leadership continues to position itself as a key ally of resistance movements, vowing to strengthen efforts against the Israeli regime in the broader regional conflict.
