The Pi Network has reached a new milestone with over 18 million Pioneers completing KYC and more than 8 million migrating to Mainnet, the platform’s founders, Chengdiao Fan and Nicolas Kokkalis, announced. To ensure inclusivity and engagement, the Open Network launch is now scheduled for Q1 2025.
Progress and Goals
The new timeline aims to narrow the gap between KYC-verified users and those who have migrated to Mainnet, with a target of 10 million migrations before launch. Recent upgrades to the KYC system have accelerated migration rates, with nearly 200,000 Pioneers migrating in a single day. At this pace, the network is on track to surpass the migration goal by January or February 2025.
Why It Matters
The extended timeframe supports three critical objectives:
- Inclusivity and Accessibility: Allowing more Pioneers to participate in the Open Network.
- Ecosystem Stability: Increasing the volume of Pi migrated to Mainnet ensures a robust network.
- Reward for Engagement: Migration by Pioneers in referral teams and security circles results in bonus Pi for contributors.
Updates on KYC and Migration
The Pi Network has implemented improvements to its KYC process, resolving tentatively approved cases and enabling second migrations for Pioneers already on Mainnet. Over 500,000 migrations were processed in the past week alone, with the system now capable of handling 200,000 migrations daily.
The Grace Period deadline for securing Pi has been extended to January 31, 2025, providing more Pioneers the opportunity to complete migration requirements.
Ecosystem Developments
More than 80 Mainnet-ready apps are now accessible via the Pi Browser. Developers are encouraged to refine their applications as the ecosystem prepares for Open Network launch. Merchants and users are also urged to engage with Pi utilities, exploring its integration in local and online commerce.
Founders’ Message
“After over six years of building, it is essential to get Open Network right, even if it requires a bit more time,” said the founders. The Pi Core Team remains committed to balancing inclusivity with the network’s transition goals, promising to announce a specific launch date well in advance.
Looking Ahead
Pioneers are urged to complete migration requirements, engage their networks, and prepare for the Open Network era. Developers and merchants are also encouraged to enhance their integration within the ecosystem.
With the Open Network set for Q1 2025, Pi Network is poised for a transition that prioritizes stability, inclusivity, and long-term sustainability.
