Pi Network Ventures has announced its first-ever investment in OpenMind, a company building an open-source operating system and protocol that enables robots to think, learn, and collaborate—essentially an “Android for robots.”

This partnership aligns with Pi Network’s mission to use blockchain technology to solve real-world problems and expand the utility of Pi across industries.

Why OpenMind Fits Pi’s Vision

OpenMind’s system creates a shared intelligence layer where robots can learn and cooperate in a decentralized ecosystem. This supports Pi’s vision of combining AI and blockchain to promote open innovation and fair participation.

OpenMind has already collaborated with Pi Network on a proof-of-concept project, in which volunteer Pi Node operators ran AI image recognition models for OpenMind. The test proved that Pi’s network of over 350,000 active nodes can be used not only to secure the Pi blockchain but also to perform AI computations for external organizations.

This innovation allows:

  1. AI companies to pay Node operators in Pi for computing power.
  2. Node operators to earn Pi through new utilities beyond mining.

Such decentralized computing could help integrate Pi deeper into the AI economy, creating new income streams and use cases for its network.

OpenMind’s Role in the AI-Blockchain Future

OpenMind’s OM1 operating system and FABRIC protocol allow intelligent machines to communicate, identify each other, and coordinate securely—without relying on centralized systems. Its approach supports robotic collaboration, industrial automation, and autonomous logistics, while promoting interoperability between digital and physical worlds.

Pi Network Ventures’ investment reinforces its commitment to support innovative startups that align with three strategic goals:

  1. Expanding Pi’s real-world utility,
  2. Integrating more global production into Pi’s ecosystem, and
  3. Bridging blockchain with real-world applications.

As AI transforms global productivity, Pi Network emphasizes the need for fair distribution and human inclusion in the AI-driven economy. Integrating Pi as a payment method for autonomous AI agents will be key in ensuring accessibility and equity.

Building a Decentralized Computing Utility

The collaboration with OpenMind marks an early step toward decentralized cloud computing using Pi’s distributed node network. Since Pi’s consensus algorithm is energy-efficient, most nodes have unused computing capacity, which can be redirected to AI training and computational tasks.

This creates potential for a peer-to-peer computing marketplace, where AI developers pay in Pi for processing power offering a cost-effective, decentralized alternative to traditional cloud services.

Over time, Pi aims to build an ecosystem where users can contribute computing power and human input, earn Pi, and help drive the next generation of AI innovation through collective participation.

Note: Pi Network Ventures’ investments follow traditional Silicon Valley-style venture capital standards focused on identifying and supporting high-impact, innovative startups. While investments do not guarantee success, they aim to fuel transformative projects that expand Pi’s global utility and ecosystem.
