Role Overview
The Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate record-keeping, compliance with local tax regulations, and timely financial reporting. The role will also support budgeting, auditing, and financial analysis to enable sound decision-making. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, well-versed in accounting standards, and experienced in working within fast-paced organizations, preferably in fintech or financial services.
Responsibilities:
- Process day-to-day accounting transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
- Reconcile bank statements and financial discrepancies.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheets, profit and loss statements, etc.).
- Assist in the preparation of reports for management and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, filing requirements, and deadlines (e.g., VAT, income tax).
- Prepare and submit tax returns and other required filings.
- Assist in the preparation and management of budgets.
- Provide insights into financial performance and forecast future financial trends.
- Support external auditors during audit periods.
- Ensure adherence to internal control policies and recommend improvements as needed.
- Perform variance analysis and provide explanations for budget deviations.
- Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities and improving financial processes.
- Utilize accounting software and ERP systems for data entry, processing, and reporting.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity within the financial systems.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 4+ years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably within the fintech area
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax regulations
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, financial functions)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent written and spoken English language skills
