As part of its growth, AvadaPay is expanding its operations in Rwanda and is looking to strengthen its finance team.

Role Overview
The Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate record-keeping, compliance with local tax regulations, and timely financial reporting. The role will also support budgeting, auditing, and financial analysis to enable sound decision-making. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, well-versed in accounting standards, and experienced in working within fast-paced organizations, preferably in fintech or financial services.

Responsibilities:

Process day-to-day accounting transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
Reconcile bank statements and financial discrepancies.
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheets, profit and loss statements, etc.).
Assist in the preparation of reports for management and external stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations, filing requirements, and deadlines (e.g., VAT, income tax).
Prepare and submit tax returns and other required filings.
Assist in the preparation and management of budgets.
Provide insights into financial performance and forecast future financial trends.
Support external auditors during audit periods.
Ensure adherence to internal control policies and recommend improvements as needed.
Perform variance analysis and provide explanations for budget deviations.
Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities and improving financial processes.
Utilize accounting software and ERP systems for data entry, processing, and reporting.
Ensure data accuracy and integrity within the financial systems.

Key Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
4+ years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably within the fintech area
Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA)
Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax regulations
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, financial functions)
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent written and spoken English language skills
