An oil storage facility in Russia’s Belgorod region exploded after a drone attack attributed to Ukrainian forces, regional authorities said on Tuesday.
Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Belgorod region, confirmed the incident in a statement shared on social media.
Storage Tanks Catch Fire
According to Gladkov, several fuel storage tanks caught fire following the explosion. However, preliminary reports indicate that the blast caused no casualties.
The damaged facility is located in the Stary Oskol district. Shortly after the incident, emergency services deployed firefighting teams to contain the blaze.
Emergency Response Ongoing
Meanwhile, authorities continue to assess the situation. Gladkov said officials are still verifying details related to potential damage and any possible injuries.
Emergency crews remain at the site as efforts to fully extinguish the fire continue.
Cross-Border Attacks Persist
The Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, has faced repeated drone and artillery attacks since the escalation of the conflict. As a result, regional authorities have increased security and emergency preparedness across critical infrastructure sites.
