ChatGPT’s Future: A New ‘Super Assistant’

Since its launch in 2022, ChatGPT has become a leading AI tool, but OpenAI has ambitious plans for its future. An internal strategy document recently revealed that the company aims to transform ChatGPT into a “super assistant” that will serve as users’ primary interface to the internet.

This document, which surfaced during the Justice Department’s antitrust case against Google, outlines OpenAI’s vision for ChatGPT to evolve beyond a tool into a companion that enhances online experiences. It emphasizes that ChatGPT could assist users in various tasks, from taking notes in meetings to finding the best restaurants.

OpenAI describes ChatGPT as “T-shaped,” combining broad skills for everyday tasks with deep expertise in more complex areas, such as coding. The first half of 2025 will focus on developing this super assistant, while the latter half will aim to generate demand for monetization.

The document highlights that advancements in AI models and new interaction methods will enable ChatGPT to perform tasks more effectively. OpenAI recognizes competition from companies like Google, Microsoft, and Meta, noting that Meta could be a significant threat due to its integrated capabilities.

Additionally, OpenAI supports regulations that allow users to choose ChatGPT as their default assistant. The company is also working to expand its data infrastructure to accommodate the growing user base, emphasizing the need for continued innovation and investment.
