Disc jockey Arnaud Shema, popularly known as DJ Toxxyk, is expected to appear before the Nyarugenge Primary Court for a bail hearing. The case relates to a hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a police officer who was on duty.
The National Public Prosecution Authority confirmed that it received the case file on December 29. Prosecutors then submitted the file to court. As a result, the suspect is scheduled to appear on January 7.
Incident and Arrest
According to police, the fatal accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, December 20. Investigators said the suspect fled the scene immediately after the incident.
However, authorities later traced and arrested him the same afternoon after a brief period in hiding. Police apprehended DJ Toxxyk in Karongi District.
Since his arrest, officers have held him at Remera Police Station as investigations continue.
Case to Proceed in Court
The upcoming hearing will focus on bail. Meanwhile, prosecutors have not yet disclosed further details regarding the charges.
The court is expected to determine the next steps in the case following the January 7 appearance.
