Elon Musk has launched a campaign encouraging people to stop using Netflix, the popular streaming platform for movies and shows, after it aired a children’s film that includes homosexuality.
The billionaire posted messages on his social media platforms calling on everyone to cancel their Netflix subscriptions, saying it was about “protecting the lives of their children.”
On October 1, 2025, Musk wrote on X, urging Netflix users to cancel their accounts because of the animated series Dead End: Paranormal Park, which features a transgender boy and is targeted at children aged seven and above.
Following the call to boycott Netflix, the company’s stock price dropped by 2.19%.
While some supporters of the show argue that it portrays LGBTQ+ families and people with diverse sexual orientations in a way that can help young people develop tolerance and empathy, Netflix has not issued any official statement about the controversy, even as the hashtag #CancelNetflix continues to trend on social media.
Currently, social media is abuzz with debates sparked by the #CancelNetflix campaign, with some critics accusing Netflix of pushing children into adopting alternative beliefs and values.
So far, Netflix has not provided a detailed response to Musk’s call.
The debate remains intense across legal, media governance, freedom of expression, and cultural and moral spheres.
Some media outlets have described Musk’s move as another front in the so-called “culture wars,” where powerful figures try to influence how major companies operate.
