The University of Rwanda (UR) has officially announced the number of students who will be admitted in its seven colleges for 2025-2026 academic programs.
A few days passed after call of application announcement that urged students who finished secondary school with excellent marks to apply for admission, this is the process that started from 16, June to 16, July, 2025 . According to Dr UWIZEYE, about 16,149 students sent their application though she said only 8,000 students will be admitted in 2025-2026 academic year.
“This year, we received 16,149 applications, and among them, we will admit 8,000 students into year one,” Dr. Odette UWIZEYE said [Taarifa.rw].
What are the criteria?
Currently, criteria are not yet published because they will be published after releasing undergraduate list for 2025-2026, though having excellent marks is one the most considerable criteria.
“We release admission criteria of admitting students in certain program and We publicly show minimum marks for admitting. These help student or parent to witness all admission criteria without visiting our offices that located in different areas” Dr. Odette UWIZEYE shared.

Let’s have look on last year’s admission criteria, for instance: Student who was admitted in college of Veterinary Medicine had to study Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB), Biology, Chemistry and Geography (BCG) or Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology (MCB) and had to obtain 50 over 60 Marks with minimum of grade D in one principal subject alongside Minimum of grade C in other subjects.
When will University of Rwanda release list of admitted students?
According to the University of Rwanda announcement, results for those who applied for admission into undergraduate will be released on 22nd, August 2025. This was announced on official account of University of Rwanda, it said:
“The University of Rwanda appreciates all applicants for their patience. We are pleased to inform you that the announcement for admissions into undergraduate programmes will be released on 22 August 2025. We thank you for your understanding and wish you every success in your academic journey”
