Kigali is preparing for a busy 2026 as several major technology events come to Rwanda’s capital. As a result, the city will attract global innovators, investors and policymakers.
In recent years, Kigali hosted successful events such as Mobile World Congress Africa and the Inclusive FinTech Forum. Consequently, these events strengthened Rwanda’s ambition to position the city as a regional technology hub.
Below are six key technology events to watch in Kigali in 2026.
Inclusive FinTech Forum
The Inclusive FinTech Forum brings together fintech founders, regulators, investors and government officials. As a result, it serves as a leading global platform for financial inclusion through technology.
The 2026 edition will take place from March 10 to 12 at the Kigali Convention Centre. Previously, the forum attracted more than 3,000 participants.
The Kigali International Financial Centre organises the forum in partnership with Elevandi and the National Bank of Rwanda.
Mobile World Congress
Mobile World Congress will return to Kigali in June at the Kigali Convention Centre. Therefore, telecom operators, mobile innovators and digital strategists will gather once again.
In earlier editions, discussions focused on affordable artificial intelligence and connectivity. Similarly, the 2026 event will examine mobile technologies and the role of AI in Africa’s digital growth.
IAF Global Space Conference on Climate
For the first time, Rwanda will host the IAF Global Space Conference on Climate Change from June 2 to 4. As a result, Kigali will welcome global experts in space and climate science.
The Rwanda Space Agency will host the event, while the International Astronautical Federation will organise it. Together, they will explore how space-based solutions can strengthen climate resilience.
African Peering and Interconnection Forum
Rwanda will host the African Peering and Interconnection Forum in August at the Kigali Marriott Hotel. Consequently, internet infrastructure experts and policymakers will meet to strengthen regional connectivity.
The African Internet Exchange Points Association organises the forum with support from the Rwanda Internet Community and Technology Alliance and the Internet Society.
Africa Drone Forum
The Africa Drone Forum will take place from September 4 to 5. Notably, this marks the second time Rwanda hosts the event.
The forum supports drone regulation, market entry and business development. In addition, it highlights applications in logistics, agriculture, healthcare and public services.
Africa Cyber Security Conference
The Africa Cyber Security Conference will return to Kigali in October. Therefore, experts will focus on protecting digital infrastructure and strengthening cyber resilience.
As Africa’s digital economy grows, the conference will promote collaboration to address emerging cyber threats.
