Toyota Rwanda Ltd has officially partnered with ATECAR Garage, naming it the first Team Toyota Garage partner in Rwanda. The collaboration aims to expand access to efficient, reliable and globally compliant maintenance services for Toyota vehicles.
The companies announced the partnership on December 30 during a ceremony held at ATECAR Garage in Gahanga. Executives from both firms and invited clients attended the event.
Agreement Targets Pre-Owned Toyota Vehicles
The partnership agreement was signed by Patrick Kanyandekwe, Chief Operations Officer at Toyota Rwanda, and Leandre Munyororo, Managing Director of ATECAR Garage.
Under the collaboration, Toyota owners, especially those with pre-owned vehicles, will access professional maintenance, repairs, genuine spare parts and dependable after-sales support. Skilled technicians will deliver the services using modern diagnostic tools and original Toyota parts.
As a result, customers will benefit from improved vehicle safety, optimal performance and faster service turnaround, particularly within Kigali.
Addressing Maintenance Gaps
Speaking after the signing, Kanyandekwe said the partnership responds to long-standing challenges faced by used-car owners.
“Many Toyota owners, especially those with pre-owned vehicles, struggle to access quality maintenance and genuine spare parts,” he said. “After careful assessment, ATECAR emerged as the most suitable partner to help close that gap.”
Broader Strategy to Improve Affordability
Throughout 2025, Toyota Rwanda has rolled out several initiatives to make vehicle ownership more accessible. In September, the company partnered with Mayfair Insurance Rwanda to bundle vehicle purchases with insurance.
In addition, Toyota Rwanda introduced a trade-in programme that allows customers to upgrade to new vehicles after evaluating used Toyotas less than 10 years old. The company also entered a financing partnership with Equity Bank Rwanda, offering flexible financing options for individuals, SMEs and institutions.
Expanded Access to Genuine Services
The extension of Toyota’s maintenance services and spare parts availability from its headquarters in Karuruma to Gahanga has been welcomed by customers seeking easier access to professional services.
Munyororo said the partnership builds on ATECAR’s long experience in the automotive sector. “We have operated in Kigali for 25 years,” he noted. “Combining our expertise with Toyota’s global service standards and access to genuine parts marks a major milestone.”
Warranty Conditions and Expansion Plans
Toyota Rwanda clarified that the partnership does not cover brand-new vehicles under warranty. All new Toyota vehicles must continue to receive service exclusively at the Karuruma headquarters.
Looking ahead, Kanyandekwe said Toyota Rwanda plans to extend similar partnerships nationwide. Discussions are already underway for a garage in Musanze District, while Rusizi District and Huye District are also under consideration.
Overall, the initiative reflects Toyota Rwanda’s broader strategy to strengthen after-sales services and improve customer experience across the country.
