Eric Trump, son of former U.S. President Donald Trump, spoke at CoinDesk’s Consensus 2025 in Toronto, declaring Bitcoin as “digital gold.” He argued that Bitcoin offers better liquidity than real estate, citing his experience selling a hotel, which took a year and a half. In contrast, he noted that Bitcoin transactions are much easier.

Speaking to a large audience, Trump shared how his interest in cryptocurrency grew due to political events and personal experiences. “I really believe in digital gold, which is Bitcoin,” he said. Although he comes from a real estate background, he entered the crypto world when he noticed similarities between the attacks on his family and those against the cryptocurrency community.

“When the same group started attacking my family and the crypto space, it brought us together,” he explained, highlighting how this connection helped him appreciate the value of digital assets.

Trump also emphasized Bitcoin’s advantages over traditional real estate. “With Bitcoin, transactions are easy. You don’t need to manage it constantly like real estate,” he remarked.

Currently, Eric Trump is the chief strategy officer of American Bitcoin, a mining firm he co-founded with Hut 8. The company is planning to go public through a merger with Gryphon Digital Mining (GRYP). He stressed the importance of the company’s name, saying, “It had to have the word American, and it had to have the word Bitcoin in it.”

With his growing role in the cryptocurrency sector, Eric Trump is becoming a prominent advocate for Bitcoin and its potential as a digital asset.
