Kayonza leadership changes have drawn public attention after three senior officials were dismissed. The District Council said the move aims to strengthen accountability and improve service delivery for residents.

Dismissal of Three Officials

Kayonza District Council has dismissed Mayor John Bosco Nyemazi over poor service delivery. The Council also removed Hope Munganyinka, the Vice Mayor in charge of Economic Development, and Jean Damascene Harelimana, who was responsible for Social Affairs.
The decision was taken on Sunday, November 7. It followed several concerns raised about their performance and response to community needs.

Reasons Behind the Decision

Speaking to The New Times, Doreen Basiime Kalimba, the Head of the District Council, confirmed the dismissals. She said the three leaders failed to address urgent problems affecting citizens. These problems included severe drought effects that required strong coordination.
She explained that Kayonza leadership changes reflect the district’s commitment to accountability. She also noted that anyone who fails to meet responsibilities must answer for service delivery gaps.

Importance of Strong Leadership

Basiime said the district expects steady and effective coordination each day. She added that weak coordination contributed to the dismissal of the three officials.
She emphasized that the district wants leaders who act quickly and provide solutions that support the community. These Kayonza leadership changes aim to restore confidence and ensure better service for residents.
