KYC and Mainnet Migration Updates: Millions of Pi Network Pioneers Unblocked as New Authentication Is Tested

Pi Network KYC and Mainnet migration update January 2026

Pi Network Expands Mainnet Migration Access

Pi Network has announced major technical updates that will allow millions of users, known as Pioneers, to complete their long-awaited Mainnet migration. The latest system upgrade has already unblocked nearly 2.5 million Pioneers, while another update scheduled in the coming weeks will enable over 700,000 additional users to submit their Know Your Customer (KYC) applications.

These developments mark a significant step in Pi Network’s goal of building one of the world’s largest fully identity-verified blockchain ecosystems.

16 Million Pioneers Successfully Migrated to Mainnet

With the latest progress, Pi Network has officially reached 16 million Mainnet-migrated Pioneers, further distinguishing itself as a large-scale blockchain supported by verified human identities.

According to the Pi Core Team, these updates strengthen two key pillars of the network:

  • The size and global reach of the Pi community
  • The security and trust provided by an identity-verified Mainnet blockchain

Why Mainnet and KYC Unblocking Happens in Batches

Pi Network explained that some users were previously blocked due to additional security, compliance, or regional verification requirements. These cases often involve complex technical and policy challenges.

Each group of affected Pioneers requires a custom technical solution, which is why unblocking happens in batches rather than all at once. Once a solution is completed and deployed, eligible users are automatically unblocked.

For Pioneers affected by the latest update, the system will automatically migrate transferable balances if:

  • The user is actively mining
  • The Mainnet Checklist is fully completed

700,000 More Pioneers to Access KYC Soon

In the next few weeks, Pi Network will allow more than 700,000 previously ineligible Pioneers to submit KYC applications. While these applications may still require additional analysis, submitting KYC early helps users move closer to Mainnet participation.

Pi Network advises users to open the Pi app regularly to check their eligibility status once the update is released.

Palm Print Authentication Enters Beta Testing

Pi Network has also announced plans to test palm print authentication as a new identity verification method. This feature will be released in beta to a limited group of Pioneers.

Palm print verification focuses on:

  • Confirming human authenticity
  • Enhancing account security
  • Preserving privacy by avoiding face-based checks

Possible future uses include account recovery, password resets, two-factor authentication, and additional KYC security layers.

KYC Validator Rewards Expected by March 2026

Pi Network confirmed that KYC Validator rewards distribution remains on track for deployment by the end of March 2026.

The system design and implementation are complete and currently undergoing testing. The process is complex due to:

  • Hundreds of millions of validation tasks
  • Multiple KYC phases since 2021
  • Fair reward calculation requirements
  • Secure distribution on the Pi Mainnet

Testing is essential to ensure accuracy, fairness, and scalability before rewards are released to validators worldwide.
