U.S. Reveals Hamas Planning Major Attack on Gaza Civilians

The United States announced that it has “reliable intelligence” indicating that Hamas is planning a major attack on civilians in Gaza, calling it a violation of the ongoing truce between Hamas and Israel.

The U.S. State Department said that such an attack would be “a serious breach of the progress achieved in mediation talks,” particularly as the truce involves the release of prisoners and hostages on both sides.

Washington has reportedly warned mediator countries involved in the truce, including Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, and is calling on Hamas to comply with the agreement, warning that protective measures may be taken for civilians if they do not.

So far, Hamas has not responded to these allegations. President Donald Trump also warned that any further attacks on civilians by Hamas would prompt U.S. action, though he emphasized that no U.S. troops would be sent to Gaza.

Under the first phase of the truce, Israel has released 250 Palestinian prisoners and another 1,718 from Gaza, while Hamas has released all Israeli prisoners it held, both alive and deceased.

Despite the truce, violence continues. Gaza’s emergency ministry, run by Hamas, reported that 11 members of one family were killed by an Israeli artillery shell, marking the deadliest incident since the truce began.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas fighters infiltrated Israel, killing over 1,200 civilians and taking 251 hostages. Since then, Gaza’s Ministry of Health reports that over 68,000 people have been killed by Israeli military actions, figures confirmed by the United Nations.
