U.S. Senator and member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Marco Rubio, has stated that the ongoing war in Gaza has severely damaged Israel’s international reputation.
Rubio made the remarks after Israel agreed to temporarily halt its attacks on Gaza to implement a prisoner exchange deal with Hamas an agreement reportedly encouraged by President Donald Trump.
He noted that the war in Gaza has shifted global sentiment, with many countries now expressing open support for Palestine, and that even within the United States, some have begun to criticize Israel’s actions.
He said: “I think what the President was trying to point out here whether one agrees or disagrees with Israel’s actions is that you cannot ignore the impact this conflict has had on Israel’s image on the international stage.”
Currently, reports indicate that Israel has refused to completely stop its military operations, despite Hamas agreeing to release all hostages once the deal is finalized. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected calls to fully withdraw Israeli forces from Gaza.
