Job Description
Kigali Public Library seeks a Projects and Communications Officer (full-time, 2-year renewable) based in Kigali to support planning, implementation, monitoring of library projects and to manage internal and external communications to raise visibility, engagement, and impact.
Job requirements
- Support design, planning and implementation of library projects and programs.
- Coordinate project activities, timelines and deliverables across departments.
- Monitor project progress, prepare regular reports, and document lessons learned.
- Assist in budget tracking and reporting for projects.
- Facilitate collaboration with partners, stakeholders and community organisations.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to enhance visibility and engagement.
- Create content for social media, newsletters, press releases and other platforms.
- Maintain and update the website and social media channels.
- Support event promotion and documentation (photography, video, written reports).
- Ensure consistency of branding and messaging across materials.
- Produce reports on project outcomes, communication campaigns and impact metrics (including donor/partner reports when required).
- Assist in organising meetings, workshops and events; perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Project Management or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in project coordination and communications.
- Preferably experience in the education sector or with nonprofit organisations.
Good to have
- Proficiency with digital communication tools: social media management, content creation and basic graphic design.
- Experience with website maintenance and content updates.
- Skills in photography and video documentation for events and campaigns.
- Experience preparing donor/partner reports and impact reporting.
- Strong organisational and multitasking ability, attention to detail, creativity and initiative.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively; flexible with changing priorities.
