Job Description

AMI seeks a detail-oriented Project Manager to support delivery of partner-led programmes across Africa. The role focuses on day-to-day project execution, stakeholder coordination, monitoring & evaluation support, event logistics, reporting and documentation, and occasional field activities. The position requires strong organisation, communication, and problem-solving skills, plus experience with donor-funded or high-growth programmes.

Job Requirements

  • Support development and execution of detailed project plans and timelines with the Senior Programme Manager (SPM).
  • Own delivery of agreed project tasks; manage day-to-day coordination (budget tracking, task tracking, deadline management).
  • Coordinate internal teams and external stakeholders; act as main contact for coaches, speakers, facilitators.
  • Lead regular internal squad meetings and ensure progress on workplans.
  • Use cohort-level dashboards with M&E to review programme data and milestones; flag and help resolve at-risk tasks.
  • Provide accurate, up-to-date data and feedback to enable timely reporting.
  • Coordinate field activities (data collection visits, spot-checks, event feedback) and basic data quality checks; escalate issues to central M&E as needed.
  • Prepare concise updates, field visit notes, event summaries; maintain project records and capture lessons learned.
  • Plan and execute in-person sessions and 1:1 coaching logistics (scheduling, contracting, feedback, billing); liaise with Ops for vendors, venues, event staff.
  • Provide general administrative support and assist the country lead with local coordination and impact story gathering.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree is an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years managing complex projects, preferably in entrepreneurship development, SME support, or skills development.
  • Demonstrated experience with donor-funded programmes, government agencies, or multilateral organisations.
  • Experience designing and implementing monitoring & evaluation frameworks.
  • Startup or high-growth company experience strongly preferred.
  • Facilitation experience is a plus.

  • Excellent organisation, leadership, problem-solving, and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency with project management tools and MS Office.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Results-driven, proactive, adaptable, and able to take ownership of deliverables.
  • Team player who can lead and collaborate with diverse teams; high integrity and professionalism.
  • Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda; French is a bonus.
  • Good understanding of the Rwandan entrepreneurial/SME/startup landscape.
  • Willingness to participate in field activities and travel as required.

Good to have

  • PMP certification or equivalent professional project management accreditation.
  • Master’s degree.
  • French language skills.
  • Prior facilitation experience.
  • Direct experience with startups / high-growth organisations.
