Over 2,500 Americans have launched major protests against President Donald Trump, accusing him of acting like a king with the power to decide life and death.
The protest, called “No Kings,” began in New York City on October 18, 2025. Organizers said it will spread across the country and be attended by millions of people.
On their website, organizers stated:
“The President thinks he has all the power. But in America, we have no kings, and we will not stop opposing chaos, corruption, and cruelty.”
President Trump denied being a king, saying:
“You know they call me a king. I am not a king.”
When the protest reaches Washington D.C., long-time U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders is expected to deliver the main address directed at Trump.
Celebrities including John Legend, Jane Fonda, Kerry Washington, Alan Cumming, and John Leguizamo are set to participate.
Support protests have also begun in Madrid, Berlin, and Rome, showing solidarity with Americans protesting against Trump.
Some Republican governors have warned of a strong law enforcement response, including the possible use of the National Guard, even though police usually manage such protests.
Texas Democratic Representative Gene Wu emphasized that the protesters will act peacefully, making the deployment of armed forces unnecessary.
He said:
“Sending armed forces to confront peaceful protests is what kings and dictators do, and Texas Governor Greg Abbott has shown he is one of them.”
