POSITION OVERVIEW
The Food Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of raw materials (fresh produce and dry goods) from central storage and prep areas to the kitchens, as well as the delivery of meals to hospitals, schools, and other commercial sites. This role requires excellent driving skills, time management, adherence to food safety, traffic regulations, and a commitment to ensuring timely and quality deliveries. A significant portion of the fleet is electric vehicles (EVs), requiring drivers to be proficient in their operation and maintenance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Transport raw materials (fresh produce and dry goods) from central storage and preparation areas to the kitchens, ensuring timely and secure delivery.
- Pick up prepared meal orders from the designated locations, ensuring they are securely packed and maintained at appropriate temperatures.
- Follow assigned delivery routes and schedules efficiently, adapting to traffic and delivery conditions.
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of all materials and meals.
- Maintain accurate delivery records and obtain necessary delivery confirmations.
- Maintain the cleanliness and functionality of the delivery vehicle, including regular checks and cleaning.
- Report any maintenance needs, damage, or accidents immediately to the Fleet Supervisor.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and ensure all safety equipment is in working order.
- Adhere to company policies on vehicle operation and safety.
- Adhere to company policies on food handling, storage, and transportation, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with kitchen staff, receiving personnel at delivery sites, and any other relevant contacts.
- Ensure accurate delivery of materials and meals to the correct recipients.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of raw materials and meals.
- Ensure accurate counts of materials and meals being transported.
- Report any discrepancies in materials or meal counts to the Fleet Supervisor.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption (or energy consumption for EVs), and delivery times.
- Report any delays, incidents, or issues to the Fleet Supervisor promptly.
EDUCATION, TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWELDGE REQUIRED
- High school diploma.
- Valid Rwanda driver’s license Level B&D minimum.
- Excellent driving skills with minimum 5 years’ experience as driving with good driving record; (Such as Electrical cars and Manual cars)
- Proven experience as a delivery driver, preferably in the food service Industry, will be an added value;
- Good in communication in English and Kinyarwanda.
- Holder of qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repairs will be added value.
- Flexible, effective teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Well-organized, systematic, careful, responsible, trustworthy and punctual.
- Must be able to perform all physical aspects of the above job duties.
- Knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Ability to use navigation tools and route planning software.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
