Samsung Electronics has announced plans to double the number of its devices powered by Gemini AI, increasing the total from 400 million to 800 million by 2026.

The announcement was made by Samsung Electronics Chief Executive Officer Roh Tae Moon in an interview with Reuters. He said the company aims to integrate artificial intelligence into all its products, operations, and services as quickly as possible.

Samsung revealed that by the end of 2025, Gemini AI had already been installed on about 400 million devices, mainly smartphones and tablets. The company now plans to expand this technology across a wider range of consumer electronics.

“We will apply AI across all products, operations, and services as soon as possible,” Roh said.

Boost for Google’s Gemini AI

Samsung’s expansion plan is expected to significantly benefit Google, the US-based technology company behind Gemini AI. The move will increase Gemini’s global user base and strengthen Google’s position in the competitive AI market.

Gemini AI is currently competing with major players such as OpenAI, as companies race to dominate the fast-growing artificial intelligence sector.

Competition With Apple and Huawei

Samsung is also using AI as part of its strategy to regain the top position in the global smartphone market. Apple led smartphone sales in 2025, while Samsung continues to face growing competition from Chinese technology giant Huawei.

The competition extends beyond smartphones to include televisions, home appliances, and other smart devices.

Growing Adoption of Galaxy AI

According to Samsung, awareness and adoption of Galaxy AI have grown rapidly. Company research shows that recognition of Galaxy AI features rose from 30 percent to 80 percent within a single year.

Roh expressed confidence that public trust in AI technology will increase quickly.

“Although AI may seem uncertain today, within six months or a year, it will be widely accepted,” he said.

Focus on Foldable Phones

Despite forecasts from research firms such as Counterpoint and IDC predicting a slowdown in the global smartphone market in 2026, Samsung continues to invest heavily in AI and foldable phone technology.

Samsung believes foldable smartphones will become mainstream within the next two to three years.

Counterpoint reported that in the third quarter of 2025, Samsung controlled nearly two-thirds of the global foldable phone market. However, the company is now facing new challenges from Huawei and Apple, both expected to launch their first foldable phones.
