OpenAI has unveiled a new feature that allows ChatGPT to connect directly with other applications, enabling users to perform various tasks without leaving the ChatGPT interface.
The new functionality, known as app integrations, allows users to access and control third-party apps through simple instructions within a ChatGPT conversation. This means users no longer need to switch between apps on their phones or computers to complete everyday tasks.
How ChatGPT app integrations work
With this update, users can open ChatGPT and interact with connected applications directly inside the chat. By giving specific commands, ChatGPT instantly communicates with the integrated apps and executes tasks on the user’s behalf.
This system works in a similar way to mini-apps found on platforms like Telegram and Discord, or mini-programs used on China’s WeChat.
Apps currently integrated with ChatGPT
At launch, OpenAI confirmed that several popular platforms are already integrated with ChatGPT. These include:
- Booking.com
- Canva
- Coursera
- Expedia
- Figma
- Spotify
- Zillow
Through Spotify, users can search for songs, create playlists, and manage music preferences without leaving ChatGPT.
With Canva, users can design and edit visual content directly via ChatGPT, while Figma allows users to create or modify diagrams, charts, and design layouts using conversational instructions.
Travel, learning, and real estate made simpler
ChatGPT’s integration with Expedia and Booking.com enables users to plan trips, search for flights, hotels, and compare prices that change in real time.
On Coursera, users can access educational videos and learning materials through ChatGPT, making online learning more interactive and accessible.
Meanwhile, Zillow connects ChatGPT to real estate databases, allowing users to view house listings, prices, photos, and maps based on their preferences.
More apps coming soon
OpenAI announced that additional applications will be integrated into ChatGPT in the future. These include:
Uber, DoorDash, Instacart, OpenTable, Target, Peloton, Tripadvisor, and AllTrails.
According to OpenAI, all apps approved for integration must meet strict standards. They must be useful, reliable, secure, and free from intrusive advertising or spam messaging.
Availability and access
The app integration feature has started rolling out to users on ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans. However, the service is not yet available in Europe, due to regulatory requirements, and has not been launched in Africa at this stage.
OpenAI says the rollout will continue gradually as compliance and technical requirements are addressed.
A step toward an all-in-one digital assistant
This update marks a major step toward positioning ChatGPT as a central digital assistant capable of managing daily tasks across multiple platforms. By reducing the need to switch between applications, OpenAI aims to save users time and simplify how they interact with digital services.
As more apps join the ecosystem, ChatGPT is expected to become an increasingly powerful tool for productivity, creativity, travel planning, learning, and entertainment.
