A U.S. court has ruled that Google will not be forced to sell parts of its business, including the Google Chrome browser and the Android operating system.
The decision follows a 2024 request from the U.S. government, which had sought to compel Google to divest Chrome and Android, arguing that the tech giant was monopolizing the digital market by controlling too many key platforms.
However, in its ruling delivered on September 2, 2025, the court dismissed the government’s request, allowing Google to retain ownership of all its affiliated entities.
Despite this victory, the court instructed Google to share search data with competing companies and to avoid any practices aimed at monopolizing the market.
