The Nyarugenge Primary Court has delivered a verdict in a high-profile case involving Arnaud Shema De Bosscher, widely known as DJ Toxxyk. The case followed a fatal road accident that occurred in December 2025 in Kigali.
Key Developments
The court found DJ Toxxyk guilty on four charges, including involuntary manslaughter, drug-related offences, fleeing the scene of an accident, and refusing a breathalyzer test.
As part of the ruling issued on May 4, the court ordered him to:
- Pay a fine of Rwf 1,050,000
- Serve three months of community service
However, the community service sentence was suspended for six months. This means it will only be enforced if he commits another offence within the probation period.

The prosecution had earlier requested a two-year prison sentence along with a fine of Rwf 1 million during a hearing held on April 20.
Details of the Incident
The case relates to a fatal accident that occurred on Sopetrade Road in Kigali. During the incident, DJ Toxxyk struck and killed Police Constable Fred Mushabe, who was on duty directing traffic.
Prosecutors presented CCTV evidence suggesting the accused may have been intoxicated at the time. They also alleged that he fled the scene, abandoned his vehicle near ONOMO Hotel, and later traveled to other locations, including Gisozi and Karongi.
Defence Position
The defence argued that the incident was accidental and lacked criminal intent.
They also challenged claims of intoxication, stating that although multiple drug tests were reportedly conducted, the results were not presented in court.
The ruling highlights the legal consequences of traffic violations and reinforces accountability in road safety cases. It also reflects how courts handle cases involving public figures, balancing legal responsibility with procedural fairness.
