The management of Energy Utility Corporation Limited (EUCL) informs all Electricians working under the Directorate of Defense support services Unit (Reserve Force) in EUCL Departments and branches national wide, that it is recruiting competent, qualified and experienced staff to fill the Substation Operator position on a fixed term employment contract of one year renewable if necessary.
Job Summary
Executing operations at the substation in accordance with corporate and regulatory rules and guidelines; keeping diligent records of events and incidents and maintaining good housekeeping at the substation
Key Responsibilities
- Operate substations in a safe and reliable manner
- Execute all switching procedures within the substation as per instruction from the NECC
- Implement smooth professional execution of routine switching under instruction from the NECC
- Monitor, assess, and record all events and incidents in the substation environment
- Execute operations and actions designed to maintain system frequency, stability as per instruction from the NECC
- Maintain accurate logs of system events, changes, or abnormalities associated with and affecting all plant in the substation
- Reads, understands and follows all applicable safety rules, and conducts all work within those accepted safety standards
- Report fire, security and cyber security breaches or to appropriate agency and management
- 10. Support delivery of the Load Curtailment Plan by executing operations associated with and affecting all plant in the substations under their jurisdiction under system constraint conditions under instruction from the NECC.
- Participate to the elaboration of KPIs for substation teams
- Ensure Capacity Development interventions to cover Gaps identified in staff compliment
- Strong communication, interpersonal, Relationship and Team
- Report fire and security breaches
- Ensure all substation operations comply with Safety, Environment and Health statutory, legal and regulatory guidelines
- Maintains compliance with Electrical Safety Regulations, Corporate guidelines and all other standards and regulations such as applicable
- Observe housekeeping rules to ensure the substation is maintained in a neat, orderly and professional manner as per operational guidelines and to the corporate standard
- Support customer notification for planned outages
- Minimise negative or adverse environmental impact by implementing professional handling and disposal of all effluent employed in operations
