Vance said an individual attempted to break into his home by striking the windows with a hammer. The suspect was stopped after a rapid response from the US Secret Service and local police.

The incident was reported on January 5, 2026, through a post Vance shared on his official X account. He thanked well-wishers for their concern and praised security forces for acting swiftly.

“All I can say is that a disturbed individual tried to enter the house by smashing the windows with a hammer,” Vance said.
“I thank the Secret Service and the Cincinnati Police Department for their quick response.”

Family Was Not at Home

Vance confirmed that neither he nor his family was present at the residence at the time of the incident. They were traveling from Washington, DC, when the attempted attack occurred.

Authorities have not yet released details about the suspect or the motive behind the incident. Investigations are ongoing.
