WhatsApp Prepares Username Feature for More Than Three Billion Users

WhatsApp is preparing to launch a new username feature that will allow users to communicate without sharing their phone numbers. The update aims to give people greater control over their privacy while making it easier to connect with others on the messaging platform.

However, a valid phone number will still be required when creating a new WhatsApp account, preserving the platform’s existing account verification process.
