Rwanda and Armenia Sign Visa-Free Agreement for Diplomatic Passport Holders

The Government of Rwanda and that of Armenia have signed an agreement to abolish visas for citizens of both countries holding diplomatic and service passports.

The agreement was signed in New York by Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Olivier Nduhungirehe and his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan.

Both sides also discussed areas of cooperation between the two sides in international organizations where they both participate.

Rwanda and Armenia are countries that have many things in common. They are small countries in area, have few natural resources and both have a tragic history of Genocide.

Armenia is a small country located on an area of 26,743 square kilometers, where it is located in the mountainous area known as the Caucasus that separates Europe and Asia. This country has a population of 3.1 million, is counted among the countries in Europe, although most of it is in Asia, and is surrounded by countries including Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan and Georgia. This country is well known for its long history, dating back to before the birth of Jesus. It is a country considered to have a middle economy, where its gross domestic product reaches $31.8 billion.
