Russian Strikes Cause Damage and Deaths in Kyiv

Kyiv

Russia’s defence ministry said its forces did not target civilian infrastructure during recent strikes against Ukraine.

The ministry stated that Russian forces struck command posts belonging to Ukraine’s ground forces and the defence ministry’s main intelligence directorate.

Ukraine has not confirmed the Russian claims.

Casualties Reported in Kyiv

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said two people died in the Ukrainian capital.

He also confirmed that 36 people, including two children, were receiving treatment in hospital.

One person died after a strike hit a nine storey residential building in Kyiv’s central Shevchenko district. The attack caused a fire on the upper floors of the building.

Damage Across the City

Authorities also reported damage near an air raid shelter at a school in the same district.

Debris blocked the entrance to the shelter and trapped several people inside.

Emergency services responded to multiple locations across Kyiv following the strikes.

Rescue teams worked to extinguish fires, clear debris, and provide medical treatment to injured residents.
