Hollywood witnessed a historic moment at the 77th Emmy Awards, as 15-year-old Owen Cooper, star of the Netflix hit Adolescence, became the youngest male actor ever to win an Emmy.
The ceremony, held on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, was hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze and broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+.
Adolescence dominated the night with six wins, including Best Limited or Anthology Series, while Cooper’s groundbreaking victory came in the Outstanding Supporting Actor category.
Other standout winners included The Studio with four awards and The Pitt with three. In the talk show category, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert once again claimed the trophy for Best Talk Series.
The night was also marked by powerful firsts: Tramell Tillman became the first Black actor to win Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role in Severance, while his co-star Britt Lower was honored with Best Actress in a Drama Series.
Celebrities including Stephen Colbert, Jeff Probst, and Sydney Sweeney took the stage as presenters, adding star power to the live broadcast.
The emotional highlight came during the “In Memoriam” segment, introduced by The Cosby Show legends Phylicia Rashad and Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who paid tribute to industry icons lost over the past year.
Meanwhile, Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen accepted the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award, recognizing their philanthropic contributions. The evening also raised $350,000 for the Boys and Girls Club, underscoring the event’s broader social impact.
With record-breaking wins and historic milestones, the 77th Emmy Awards will be remembered not only for honoring television’s best but also for ushering in a new generation of stars — led by teenage trailblazer Owen Cooper.
