Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has downplayed the outcome of recent talks between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying the meeting produced no tangible results blaming European interference for undermining the progress made.

Speaking on October 8, 2025, Ryabkov said Europe’s continued support for Ukraine had derailed the commitments reached during the Alaska summit between the two leaders.

“We must acknowledge that the momentum created by that meeting was weakened by those who support the war and those who oppose it. This was mainly due to Europe’s destructive actions,” he stated.

The Russian diplomat warned that the conflict could worsen if the United States decides to provide Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine long-range weapons known for their precision and resilience in combat.

Trump and Putin had met in Alaska on August 15, 2025, after which both sides described the discussions as “productive.”

However, Trump later suggested that Ukraine should consider ceding some of its territory to reach a peace deal with Russia a proposal widely criticized as pro-Moscow. He has since turned his tone, accusing Russia of failing to end the war.

Recently, Trump demanded that Kyiv clarify how it intends to use the U.S. made missiles it requested, saying he wanted to ensure that any military support would not prolong the devastating conflict.
