Rwanda’s Prime Minister Attends 2026 AfDB Annual Meetings in Brazzaville

Justin Nsengiyumva joined African leaders and financial executives at the official opening ceremony of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo.

The high-level gathering officially opened on May 26, 2026, bringing together Heads of State, government officials, business leaders, banking executives and development partners from across the continent.

African Leaders Gather for Key Economic Discussions

The opening ceremony featured several African presidents, including Denis Sassou Nguesso, Brice Oligui Nguema and Faustin-Archange Touadéra.

According to Rwanda’s Office of the Prime Minister, Prime Minister Nsengiyumva joined fellow African leaders during the official launch of the annual meetings, which focus on financing development and strengthening economic growth across Africa.

AfDB Calls for Stronger Reforms Across Africa

During the opening session, Sidi Ould Tah stressed the importance of reforming governance systems, financial regulations and infrastructure to improve access to development financing across the continent.

He explained that stronger institutions and better infrastructure remain essential for accelerating Africa’s economic transformation and attracting sustainable investment.

The annual meetings also provide a platform for policymakers and financial institutions to discuss regional integration, infrastructure development, private sector growth and climate financing.

Rwanda and AfDB Partnership Continues to Grow

The African Development Bank has operated in Rwanda since 1974 and remains one of the country’s major development partners.

Over the years, the bank has financed several major infrastructure and development projects in Rwanda, including investments in transport, energy, water supply and economic development initiatives.
