According to Nikkei Business Daily, Sony and TSMC plan to establish a joint company to oversee the project.
Sony is expected to hold a 60% stake in the new venture, while TSMC would own the remaining 40%.
The manufacturing facility is planned for Kumamoto in southern Japan, where TSMC already has a growing semiconductor presence.
