AI Is Making It Easier Than Ever to Start a Business, Entrepreneurs Say

How Artificial Intelligence Is Lowering Barriers for New Businesses

Artificial intelligence is transforming entrepreneurship by making it faster, cheaper, and easier for people to launch businesses.

From writing business plans and conducting market research to creating logos, marketing campaigns, and websites, AI tools are helping entrepreneurs turn ideas into reality with fewer resources than ever before.

Business owners and economists say these advancements are reducing startup costs and enabling more individuals to compete in industries that previously required large teams and significant investment.

AI Helping Entrepreneurs Move Faster

Chris Franco, founder of New York-based marketing and customer acquisition firm Woodridge Growth, believes AI has fundamentally changed what entrepreneurs can achieve.

According to Franco, modern AI tools can assist with nearly every stage of building a company, from idea generation to daily operations.

“You can do anything you can imagine. There’s nothing holding you back,” Franco said.

He added that entrepreneurs now have access to capabilities that were once available only to large companies with substantial budgets and specialized teams.

New Business Formation Reaches Record Levels

The rise of AI comes at a time when new business creation in the United States is reaching historic highs.

Recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows that business applications have surged in recent years, while research from Stripe Economics indicates that solo founders are driving much of this growth.

Experts believe AI is playing a significant role by reducing the complexity and cost of launching new ventures.

Torsten Slok, Chief Economist at Apollo Global Management, said AI is making entrepreneurship more accessible across industries.

“It is becoming easier for experts in consulting, finance, legal services, and many other sectors to become entrepreneurs and compete with larger companies,” Slok explained.

Lower Costs and Faster Development

One of AI’s biggest advantages is its ability to reduce startup expenses.

Angela Lee, a professor of entrepreneurship at Columbia Business School, noted how dramatically technology has changed the process of building a business.

She recalled spending approximately $20,000 to hire developers to create a website for one of her early ventures.

Today, AI-powered coding tools can help users build websites within minutes at little or no cost.

“Everything has decreased in cost and increased in speed,” Lee said.

These improvements allow founders to test ideas, launch products, and reach customers much more quickly than in previous decades.

AI Assists With Planning and Operations

Artificial intelligence is not only helping entrepreneurs launch businesses but also improving how they manage daily operations.

Ernie Tedeschi, Chief Economist at Stripe Economics, said AI can help founders create business plans, understand supply chains, complete regulatory paperwork, and identify growth opportunities.

“It can help you make your vision a reality,” Tedeschi said.

For many entrepreneurs, AI functions like an on-demand business advisor, providing insights that previously required consultants or specialized staff.

Small Businesses Benefit From AI Tools

Albert Feldman, founder of Boston-based candle manufacturer Sky Candle Co., says AI has become an important part of his company’s operations.

The business uses artificial intelligence to create marketing campaigns, analyze sales data, and improve financial planning.

According to Feldman, AI helps the company forecast demand and manage inventory more efficiently.

“It helps us understand what products we should make more of and which we should move away from,” he said.

The technology also assists with purchasing decisions by analyzing historical sales patterns and predicting future needs.

This allows smaller businesses to operate more efficiently and compete with larger companies.

Will AI Create Jobs or Reduce Them?

The rapid adoption of AI continues to fuel debate about its long-term impact on employment.

Supporters argue that AI will stimulate innovation, encourage entrepreneurship, and create new jobs as businesses expand.

Apollo’s Slok believes successful startups launched with the help of AI will eventually need employees as they grow.

“If a fraction of the new ideas people have become successful, they will need workers,” he said.

However, not everyone shares that optimism.

Professor Angela Lee warned that many founders are already building companies with smaller teams because AI can automate tasks that once required additional staff.

“Founders are hiring less,” she said. “Unfortunately, I think ultimately it will take away jobs.”

A New Era for Entrepreneurship

As AI tools continue to improve, they are reshaping the entrepreneurial landscape by giving individuals access to capabilities once reserved for larger organizations.

Whether creating websites, generating marketing content, conducting research, or managing operations, AI is helping founders move faster and operate more efficiently.

While questions remain about the technology’s impact on employment, many business owners agree that AI is making entrepreneurship more accessible than ever before.
