Meta is developing a new wearable artificial intelligence device called AI Pendant. Reports indicate the company plans to begin testing the device next year as part of its broader investment in AI powered wearables.
The AI Pendant is a small device users can wear around the neck or attach to clothing or bags. It uses microphones and artificial intelligence to listen to conversations, process audio, and convert spoken information into written notes.
How the AI Pendant Works
The device records conversations, meetings, and daily interactions throughout the day. Its AI system then organizes the collected information into searchable digital records.
For example, a user could later ask the device about details discussed during a meeting or request information related to a previous conversation. The AI system would generate answers based on stored audio and transcripts.
Meta is reportedly building the technology using systems connected to Limitless, a company it acquired in late 2025. Limitless previously developed wearable AI products designed to capture and organize spoken conversations.
Meta’s Growing Focus on AI Wearables
The company stated earlier that acquiring Limitless would help accelerate its wearable AI projects. Meta has continued investing heavily in smart devices powered by artificial intelligence, including AI glasses and workplace focused wearable tools.
Reports also suggest Meta plans to introduce a subscription service called Wearables for Work. The service could provide professional tools and AI features through wearable devices designed for workplace productivity.
Privacy Concerns Continue to Grow
Despite the convenience offered by AI wearables, privacy concerns remain a major topic. Since the AI Pendant continuously records conversations and surrounding audio, experts continue raising questions about data security and protection of personal information.
Many users remain concerned about how companies store voice recordings, who can access them, and how the information may be used in the future.
Reality Labs Financial Pressure
Meta hopes its wearable AI products will strengthen the performance of its Reality Labs division. The division reported losses of about $4 billion during the first quarter of this year as the company continued investing in virtual reality and AI technologies.
The new AI Pendant project highlights Meta’s strategy of expanding beyond social media into AI powered hardware and productivity tools.
